An Irish air in 6/8 time, this tune is traditionally played as both a “listening piece” and a jig. It’s also known as “She’s False as She’s Fair and Bonny” and “She’s Fair and Fouse” (an old word that means ardent and eager). My version in 3/4 time begins with a slow lament that builds to a short allegro section to create dramatic tension. That tension continues to build as we’re led back to the expressive melody.
