OboeBass! (Carrie Vecchione, oboe & Rolf Erdahl, bass) play selections from repertoire written for them by women composers in recital at Augsburg College’s Sateren Auditorium, Mon., Sept. 21 at 7:30 pm. Selections include Julie Johnson's "Folk Suite for Oboe and Bass" honoring the Finnish immigrant and Métis French-Canadian/indigenous fiddle traditions she grew up hearing in northern Minnesota; Valerie Coleman's "American Vein," a musical roadtrip across America visiting places and ideas that all Americans share and value; and their newest piece, Alyssa Morris's "Common Ground," four movements exploring music and ideas that bring people together.
